After much soul searching, I've come to the frightening conclusion that, like it or not, I am a decisive element in the lives of my players. My personal approach creates their climate. My daily mood makes their weather. As a Coach and teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, my response decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized. I am truly humbled by these thoughts and don't know if I am worthy of the task.

I only know that I want to try.
